Let Freedom Ring!!

Friends, Family, Countrymen, lend me your ears! It's been a year since Sarah Land was declared a free and sovereign nation. It was signed into law on a crisp, sunny, fall afternoon, September 18 2008, by the honorable Joan Young. All old ties to the old land, Dictatorship Island, was severed with a meager division of property and assets.

This was not accomplished without bloodshed and many tears. It was a hard, and often unfair battle with Dictatorship Island. Many deceitful and underhand things were done in the name of freedom but with many prayers and helping hands, the division was secured in a mostly fair manner. We would like to honor our General Nunzio Provenzano who put up a gallant fight and went beyond the call to help Sarah Land emerge free.

It has been a tough year here in Sarah Land. There are still terrorist attacks at the boarders but as the boarders get tougher they are getting fewer and farther between. Even when a sneak attack comes in, it is not nearly as devastating as it once was, and often it goes completely unnoticed.

The economic situation in Sarah Land is not great, as it is for most of the nations of the world right now. At first we were doing OK but unemployment hit us hard. We regrouped, fought on, and are on another path which will hope with bring about some economic success. Thankfully some of these efforts are being supported by the leader of Dictator Island which angers him but he has no choice but to continue for another two years.

We have two small, part time citizens of Sarah Island that are sadly struggling since they must make frequent trips back and forth from this land to the other. I feel sad for them but I cannot change the situation because the solution of them becoming permanent residents in either land with limited visits to the other is not an answer either. For now I strive to love and support them as much as I can.

There is another citizen in Sarah Island. He came to us on a part time "work" visa. First we tried to live in separate lands and visit back in forth. This became too much of a challenge so he gave up his place, Serenity, for the chaos and often unsettle land of Sarah Island. This was done with the understanding that it was a temporary arrangement and that either could terminate the arrangement at any time. It has been hard, learning to merge two lives, and children, but we striving. I realized early on, even if it's bad, I would rather be with him than without him. I believe in the coming year he may ask to help lead Sarah Island. This is an exciting and terrifying thought but we will see how it goes. He has made many hints in this direction and I feel it's want he wants more than anything. It helps that he too once lived in a cold and dismal place ruled by an evil despot, in his case, the Ice Queen, but he too was let free. He lived in his own place for many years alone and was very lonely at times. He seems to like Sarah Land but we shall see what the future holds.

There are the winds of change on Dictator Island. A new co-leader is joining the land tomorrow. We hope that she is fair and just and can temper the narrow world view the current leadership holds. This change is much to soon for the other residents of the land but only time will tell whether it's a good change or not. We also fear for the well being of this new co-leader. There is much subjugation and deceit in that land but she is of legal age, is supposed to have all of her wits about her and is entering the land of her own free will. She has a lot of family to surround her as she does this so if things don't work well, she may not have to fight as hard as this land did to be free. We keep her in our prayers as she makes this transition.

Recently things have eased slightly in Sarah Land and I have had small breaks in my studies and the demands of ruling. I have taken back to my favorite hobby, cross stitching and am currently working on "Violet" which is designed by Nora Corbett, Copyright Mirabilia:

The upcoming year will more than likely be another difficult year as we learn to govern on our own. There will be many new challenges ahead, many old challenges presented to us again but we have God, our friends, support and love on our side. We if keep our contact with God and our Higher selves we will always be guided in the right direction. We don't know what the future holds but do know that we will be given the tools and support we need to go forth and to prosper.

It is now a nation holiday in Sarah Land. No work is to be done until Monday morning when our studies for the future resume!!

Enjoy!

Thank you for your time and attention,

Sarah
Your often fearful leader :D

Congratulations Sarah! I'm sure you can look back on the last year and see how far you've come - you should be very proud of yourself!
